Used Toyota Wish for Export from Japan
The Wish is a low-slung 7-seater that drives like a sedan and swallows a family like a van — Corolla-based running gear with three rows. Production ended in 2017, so supply is finite and prices keep firming in Kenya, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh where it is a taxi and family staple. The 1.8L 2ZR engine is as cheap to maintain as any Corolla, which is exactly the point.
Key facts
- FWD or 4WD; 1.8L 2ZR-FAE or 2.0L 3ZR-FAE with CVT
- Best for: taxi work, family transport, sedan drivers needing 7 seats
- Second generation (2009–2017) is the export sweet spot
What to check at auction
High-mileage taxi trade-ins are common — cross-check seat wear against the odometer. Valvematic hunting idle on early 2ZR-FAE units. Third-row seat belts and trim often show child damage; grade interior from photos.
